THEIR EXCELLENCIES President Arthur NR Robinson and Mrs Robinson, hosted an absolutely delightful reception last Thursday, to celebrate their daughter Anne Margaret’s 39th birthday. To six-year-old Anushka, however, her mother was only 21 year sold.
Anne Margaret’s praises were sung by many at the function, for the supportive role she has successfully carried out in the lives of her “not-so-well” parents at The President’s House.
For a change, the younger crowd, with the men comfortably attired in lounge suits, were in the majority in the large ballroom, which was beautifully decorated with masses of potted poinsettia. Anne Margaret was positively glowing and, no longer the shy young woman of two or three years ago, managed to chat with every one of her guests, at the same time making sure in her very own quiet style that everybody was enjoying themselves.
I was truly happy for her who very few people would realise has given the last five years of her life to the country.
A delicious Christmas cold-plate was served buffet-style, followed by fruit, trifle or black cake for dessert. While the Los Ninos de Santa Rosa Parang Group provided excellent background music.
Guests were having such a good time that the official invitation’s closing time of 8.30 pm went by unnoticed by many.
